Intro to The Power Universe

Calling all Power fans: we’ve a new show on the way! The much-anticipated premiere of Power Book IV: Force will drop on The STARZ App on February 6 at 12:01 am. To help you prepare, we summarized all of the key events from across the Power Universe. Refresh your memory with these short recaps, and get ready for the first big STARZ event of 2022!

Power Original Series

Back where it all started! The O.G. Power series focused on James St. Patrick aka Ghost (Omari Hardwick), the slick drug kingpin of NYC. As the longest-running Power Universe series thus far, Power has no shortage of twists and turns. The most important part to remember is how it ended. In Season 5, Ghost’s long-time rival Kanan Stark (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson) died after being shot by the police. But Ghost’s troubles were far from over. In a shocking twist, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) shoots his father, ending the reign of Ghost.

Power Book II: Ghost

The first Power spin-off focuses on Tariq in the aftermath of his father’s death. His path becomes inextricably linked with the Tejadas, another powerful drug family in NYC. Their queenpin (#girlboss) is Monet Tejada (Mary J. Blige) who is another main character in the series. These days, Tariq’s in pretty hot water as he’s on the hook for two murders–one he did commit and one he didn’t. With the Tejada patriarch, Lorenzo (Berto Colon) fresh out of prison, it’s unclear what anyone’s future will be. Don’t miss out! Be sure to catch the Season 2 finale on The STARZ App on February 6.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan

This prequel series takes us back to ‘90s Queens, New York. Kanan (Mekai Curtis) is just starting to come up under the guidance of his queenpin mom, Raq (Patina Miller). Because of Power, we already know how Kanan’s story ends. Raising Kanan shows us how this cutthroat gangster came to be. The first season’s finale ends on a major cliffhanger with Kanan failing to kill his estranged father Detective Malcolm Howard (Omar Epps). Raq wants to pin the attempted murder on her rival, Unique (Joey Bada$$). But will Malcolm agree to frame someone else to protect his son? Thankfully, Season 2 has already been greenlit, so we won’t have to wait long for answers!

Power Book IV: Force

The latest in the Power Universe features fan-favorite Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora). After faking his own death, Tommy decides to infiltrate Chicago’s drug empires. Ghost’s former right-hand man has witnessed (and caused) a lot of tragedy. Remember, before the events of this series, his partner-in-crime, Ghost, and his partner-in-love, LaKeisha (La La Anthony) were both killed by members of the St. Patrick family. We’re curious to see how Tommy balances his past demons with future aspirations.
