As much as I hate to admit it, there just isn’t a diet out there that’s easy to follow and will have me looking like Taylor Swift in 4 days. For me, it’s because I’m generally not paying attention to what I eat when I’m stressed and trying to hit a deadline. For my friend, it’s because of her under-active thyroid which means her hormones send her sugar cravings through the roof. In general: weight loss is personal and what works for me might not work for my friend, or you. So naturally I was intrigued to hear about Found, a weight loss company that has built its entire program around personalization and the unique biological needs of each member.
Found is a company actively acknowledging there is no one-size-fits-all solution for weight loss. Instead, they have set about building a program that is easy to stick to as well as effective by zoning in on one thing: your biology. Decades of research have shown weight loss is more complex than “eat less, move more.” Genetics, hormones, and health conditions play a huge role in our eating and exercise choices. Found takes these factors into account and combines them with nutrition, movement, and habit-forming advice to build a hyper-personalized weight loss plan.
When you register, you’re asked to fill out a questionnaire designed by board-certified physicians, registered dietitians, and the Found team themselves. You do this so that Found can understand your lifestyle choices, medical history, previous weight loss attempts, health goals, and overall well-being. From there, the same physicians that built the questionnaire will review your results and work with a registered dietitian and health coach to design a health and movement plan that is catered to your exact lifestyle and biological profile. For some members, they will also prescribe medication to further support this nutrition & movement plan.
Medication is only prescribed when Found’s board-certified physicians feel that there may be a physiological issue that is inhibiting your ability to lose weight. Your doctor could notice that your blood sugar has a tendency to spike and then crash. This could be contributing to an increase in sugar cravings. The Found team will take these learnings and specifically prescribe medicine to keep this in check.
Found uses telemedicine to deliver your personal program so you can undergo the medical, physical and psychological evaluation from the comfort of your own home. Telemedicine is a growing medical industry practice that makes it easier for people to get access to the medication and physician support they need, without the headaches of scheduling, wait times, and physically having to go see a doctor. In addition to the medical team, Found connects you with one of their personal health coaches to support your journey. They are available 24/7, and you can communicate with them over email and text.
Found plans start at $19.75/week. And the best part: there are no hidden fees or additional co-pays. This costs covers everything from the physician consult, personalized eating and movement plan, 24/7 personal health coach support and medication if that is required. Comparable plans for in-person weight loss clinics and other weight loss programs can run into the hundreds, and even thousands of dollars per month.
It is important to remember that Found isn’t a magic weight loss pill and that entry into their program does not guarantee results. As we all know, much of a successful weight loss journey is determined by the individual and how motivated they are to make real changes in their life. With that said, the average user loses 48 lbs with Found: 2-4x more weight 3x faster than other weight loss programs. Beyond the quantity, though, many individuals who have started the program have emphasized the lasting results they have experienced: feeling healthier, happier, generally lighter, and more confident. While it’s not necessarily for everyone, it’s worth a shot!
